Major congratulations are in order this week, as we had our first three-for-six performance of the year! Congratulations to Richard Hamilton, whoever you are, who had Peterson, Warner, and Cutler in his Pick Six last week. Myself, I had Peterson and Warner, meaning two-out-of six and moving in the right direction. A look at last week’s top six:
1. Thomas Jones
2. Jay Cutler
3. Adrian Peterson
4. Maurice Jones-Drew
5. Kurt Warner
6. Jets D/ST
I like weeks where we have all household names in the top six, no flukes. Last week was no exception, save the Jets defense. We certainly must give them credit, however. I’m going to try to tone down the analysis of each player this week in my picks, cause we all know it’s completely useless for the sake of this competition. Again, I encourage as many readers as possible to provide their picks. We have metrics for this site, you know, so I know how many of you are reading this. Take a moment and give it a shot! My picks:
Brian Westbrook, RB, Philadelphia: The Bengals are terrible against the run, and Westbrook has been held without a touchdown for consecutive weeks. He goes big in what could be a rainy affair.
Michael Turner, RB, Falcons: He faces Denver this week, enough said. Expect the potential for a week 1 performance (200 yards and a touchdown)
Marques Coltston, WR, New Orleans: If Colston had caught that 10-yard slant for a sure touchdown last week in the first half he could have been in the top six. Chiefs this week. Could be high scoring. That means pass yards for Brees and stats for Colston.
Matt Forte, RB, Chicago: Forte has proven valuable in both the running game and passing game for consecutive weeks. Green Bay got lit up on the ground last week. Eighty rush yards, 45 receiving, two TD’s.
Drew Brees, QB, New Orleans: I have Brees in here a lot, but I especially like him this week because Tyler Thigpen is for real. The Chiefs are going to score some points, meaning Brees will have to keep up.
Adrian Peterson, RB, Minnesota: He’s so hot right now, he can you not have him in here?
A few who could bust…
Jay Cutler, QB, Broncos: The yards will be there, but so will the turnovers. This is a very good Atlanta defense.
Marshawn Lynch, RB, Buffalo: Something just doesn’t look right with Lynch, and Fred Jackson deserves the time he’s getting.
Anquan Boldin, WR, Arizona: A little extra defensive attention this week, and Fitzgerald gets the two scores.
