Browns Sign Gradkowski

From Marla Ridenour of Ohio.com:

The Browns signed veteran quarterback Bruce Gradkowski today, putting starter Derek Anderson on the injured reserve list with a torn knee ligament.

Gradkowski, a University of Toledo product, was released Aug. 31 by the St. Louis Rams after a training-camp tryout.

He played with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2006 and 2007, starting 11 games. He is 190-of-352 for 1,791 passing yards in his career, including nine touchdowns and 10 interceptions. His passer rating is 65.0

He probably will be the third quarterback for the game Sunday against the Titans (11-1) in Tennessee. Ken Dorsey will start, and receiver-returner Joshua Cribbs will be his backup.

The Browns also announced that quarterback Brady Quinn will undergo surgery on his fractured right index finger Wednesday in Alabama.

The operation will be performed by Dr. Thomas Hunt. The recovery time is expected to be six to 10 weeks. Quinn, who is already on the injured list and out for the season, was hurt Nov. 17 against the Buffalo Bills, and his finger suffered further damage when he played in the next game against the Houston Texans.

Anderson, also out for the season, tore the medial collateral ligament in his left knee late in the loss Sunday to Indianapolis Colts. He will not need surgery.

Anderson, due a $5 million roster bonus in March, may have played his last game for the Browns. The team was expected to choose between him and Quinn before then and trade the other. That plan might have been compromised by Quinn’s injury.

Saw this move on the NFP wire report wire, an Ohio homeboy. He’s pretty competitive, plays with some spark to his game.
