The San Francisco 49ers have lost cornerback Chris Culliver for the season, after he tore his ACL on Thursday, per multiple reports.

Culliver suffered the injury during a punt drill, according to CSNBay Area and was in tears as he left the practice field on a cart, per Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle.

The 49ers, the reigning NFC champs and one of the trendy preseason picks to win the Super Bowl this season, have been reeling with injuries to key players. They lost wide receiver Michael Crabtree to a torn Achilles during off-season work, and earlier this week, star linebacker Patrick Willis broke his hand.
