The San Francisco 49ers entered training camp with a plethora of running backs at their disposal.
By Sunday, two have already been injured. A day after it was revealed Kendall Hunter tore his ACL, LaMichael James was carted off of the practice field with a left arm, according to the San Jose Mercury News. The NFL Network later reported James' injury to be a dislocated elbow.
The Mercury News report states that James appeared to have injured the arm during a pass-blocking drill.
The NFL Network also reported James should miss a month of action, which still puts him on pace for the season-opener. However, it gives Marcus Lattimore and Carlos Hyde more opportunities to earn reps over him. Lattimore does have an injury history of his own, having torn both of his ACLs at South Carolina.
It's not a good time to be a San Francisco running back. Those still able to practice should consider themselves fortunate.
