The San Francisco 49ers are adding former Arizona Cardinals running back Alfonso Smith to their roster.

Both Kendall Hunter and LaMichael James got injured this week. Hunter tore his anterior cruciate ligament. James dislocated his elbow.

Smith has experience.

He rushed for 156 yards and two touchdowns for the Cardinals in four seasons.
