The San Francisco 49ers released quarterback Scott Tolzien, retaining Seneca Wallace, Colt McCoy and B.J. Daniels behind starter Colin Kaepernick.
Tolzien was with the team as a third quarterback the past two seasons, and completed 18 of 34 passes for 188 yards and an interception during the preseason.
The 49ers have declared that McCoy is the primary backup to Kaepernick.
The 49ers are down to 85 players after releasing running back D.J. Harper, linebacker Joe Holland, offensive lineman Al Netter and punter Colton Schmidt.
