Nate Montana got another look from the San Francisco 49ers on Friday when he participated in a rookie minicamp.
Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle reports it is at least the third time Montana, the son of Hall of Famer Joe Montana, has performed in front of the team’s coaches and front office. He was also at a pre-draft workout for local prospects and participated in the club’s three-day rookie minicamp in mid-May.
This most recent sessions was a one-day minicamp for the team’s rookies on the 90-man roster and is part of the team’s rookie development program, which is permitted under the CBA.
Montana finished his college career at West Virginia Wesleyan this past year, a Division II school in Buckhannon, W. Va. It would be a little surprising if the Niners signed him but stranger things have happened.
