The San Francisco 49ers have signed veteran free agent running back Brian Westbrook, the team announced.
It's a one-year deal worth $1.25 million.
Westbrook is a former Philadelphia Eagles star who has gained 5,995 rushing yards and 37 touchdowns, registering 426 receptions for 3,790 yards and 29 touchdowns.
Westbrook has been to the Pro Bowl twice and was once named first-team All-Pro.
With the 49ers, Westbrook is slated to back up Frank Gore and work out of the backfield on third downs.
