49ers sign Glenn Winston, waive-injured Kendall Hunter

The San Francisco 49ers have signed former Michigan State running back Glenn Winston, and waived-injured running back Kendall Hunter.

Winston was signed to a three-year contract.

Winston played at Michigan State before off-field problems caused him to go to jail. He finished his career at Northwood where he rushed for 717 yards and nine touchdowns.

Hunter was originally drafted by the 49ers in the fourth round in 2011.. He has rushed for 1,202 career yards and seven touchdowns on 262 carries over the past three seasons.

Winston worked out for the 49ers on Monday.

Winston got kicked out of Michigan State in 2008 following two fights within a single year. He served six months in jail in 2010 after previously serving four months in jail in 2009.
