Sixth-round pick was all-time leading rusher at Mississippi State Brad Biggs
The San Francisco 49ers have agreed to terms with running back Anthony Dixon, the sixth-round draft pick.
Dixon, a Mississippi State product who was selected 173rd overall, signed a four-year contract. He’s an interesting player who could prove to be a real value pick for the Niners if he can develop into a short yardage or change-of-pace back. Dixon didn’t time well at the scouting combine, but he’s a big back at 6-1, 235 pounds, and if he can prove capable of picking up the tough yard here and there, he’ll have value.
Dixon finished as the school’s all-time leading rusher with 3,994 yards after he played in 48 of 49 games. He’s proven to be durable but he comes with high mileage.
He is the third draft pick to sign with the 49ers.
