Aaron Curry announces his retirement

Cut by the New York Giants, veteran linebacker Aaron Curry announces his retirement from the NFL via his Twitter account.

"After a lot of prayer. Consulting with God. The best thing for my family and myself is to retire from the @nfl. I enjoyed it #DeliveredDefender," Curry wrote.

Curry is a former Seattle Seahawks first-round draft pick selected fourth overall out of Wake Forest. He also played for the Oakland Raiders.

“We have to understand its a sport and a business, it is NOT an evaluation of personal worth,” Curry wrote on his Twitter account when he was released.
