Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson will undergo groin surgery, according to ESPN.

The surgery was decided upon after Peterson met with a specialist in Philadelphia on Wednesday.

It was the same doctor who did a sports hernia procedure for Peterson last year.

Peterson isn't playing in the Pro Bowl due to his injuries.

He rushed for 1,266 yards and 10 touchdowns one year after he gained 2,097 yards and scored a dozen touchdowns during the 2012 season and was named NFL Most Valuable Player.
