The Buffalo Bills have promoted running back Andre Anderson to the active roster from the practice squad, according to his agent, Marc Lillibridge.

Anderson was signed to the practice squad to take the place of running back Joique Bell, who was signed by the Philadelphia Eagles to their active roster.

He was briefly on the Cleveland Browns' practice squad earlier this season, spending the first week of the regular season with them.

Anderson was previously with the Oakland Raiders prior to his first stint with the Bills.

Anderson was a standout at Tulane, on and off the field.

He was a 3.2 student, making the Conference USA All-Academic football squad.

He was also an academic All-American selection.

Last season, he rushed for 1,016 yards and eight touchdowns.

For his career, he registered 1,966 yards and 17 touchdowns.

The 6-foot, 212-pounder is a native of Stone Mountain, Ga.
