Followng a summer of controversy where he allegedly struck teammate Lamar Brooks in the head with a beer bottle with no assault charges filed, San Francisco 49ers linebacker Ahmad Brooks isn't in the mood for public apologies.
Or, apparently, private ones.
"I have nothing to say about it right now," Brooks told reporters. "It's a distraction to the team and I just want to move forward. It's in the past. What happened obviously happened. It's a distraction to the team, so I don't think it needs to be talked about. It's not about football, and that's how I want to approach it."
Brooks allegedly hit Divens with a beer bottle and punched him in the face during an argument in June, causing a three-inch forehead cut that needed stitches.
"There was no apology needed," Brooks said. "I had nothing to say about it."
The players had allegedly been drinking and Divens refused to give Brooks his car keys.
Safety Donte Whitner recently said that Brooks feels bad about what happened, saying: "He's tremendously sorry for what he did, anybody would be embarrassed."
From what it sounds like, Brooks just doesn't want to talk about the incident anymore and is probably under instructions from the team not to disclose more information about an ugly episode that could be disruptive to team chemistry.
