Alabama received a pledge from a Class of 2014 cornerback who grew up an Auburn fan, as Stephen Roberts gave an oral commitment to the Crimson Tide on Wednesday.

The 6-foot, 180-pounder from Opelika High School (Opelika, AL) is the Crimson Tide's fifth commitment in their 2014 class.

Roberts, who had offers from Auburn, Florida State and other major programs, visited Alabama for its spring game last weekend and will try to eventually become another top defensive back that the Tide is able to develop and send to the NFL.

During his junior season, he helped Opelika to the state championship game after recording 64 tackles (including 9 for loss), 11 pass breakups and four interceptions (three of which were returned for touchdowns).

While Roberts is one of the better corners in the country, his athleticism and versatility could translate into him seeing time at safety or nickelback as well.
