Alabama lands rising Georgia defensive tackle

Defensive tackle Johnny Dwight, who was impressive at Alabama's summer football camp, verbally committed to the Crimson Tide on Tuesday evening.

The 6-2, 280-pound Class of 2014 product from Wilcox County High School (Rochelle, GA) showed his deceptive quickness off the ball at the recent camp in Tuscaloosa and becomes the third commitment from the Peach State in Alabama's current nine-player 2014 class.

Dwight joins cornerback Kalvaraz Bessent and safety Chris Williams as Georgia products in this cycle after 'Bama landed all-purpose back Alvin Kamara and running back Tyren Jones last February. Star weakside defensive end Lorenzo Carter and defensive tackle Elisha Shaw are Georgia products currently considering the Tide.

Dwight, who is a consensus three-star prospect (three-star ratings from Rivals, Scout and 24/7) and recently picked up scholarship offers from LSU and North Carolina, could project to play the five-technique end position in Alabama's 3-4 defense.
