49ers outside linebacker Aldon Smith has had a tough time keeping off-field incidents from affecting his day job.
At 7 a.m. Friday morning, police arrested Smith for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol after being responsible for a single-car accident, according to CSN Bay Area.
This arrest could put Smith's game status in jeopardy for the Colts game on Sunday.
"The 49ers organization is aware of the matter involving Aldon Smith," the team said in a statement. "As we continue to gather information regarding this situation, we will have no further comment."
Smith has received from negative publicity of late, including being named as a defendant in a civil suit that led to a shooting as well as being arrested for a previous DUI charge that was later reduced.
The 49ers have counted on Smith this year as he's recorded 3.5 sacks in just two games.
