Alex Smith completed a second practice in limited fashion on Thursday, increasing chances he will play Monday night when the San Francisco 49ers host the Chicago Bears.
Smith is working his way back from a concussion suffered in Sunday’s tie against the St. Louis Rams. He wore a black jersey signaling no contact, according to Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee.
The next step will be for Smith to be cleared for contact drills but no team subjects its quarterbacks to contact during practices. It remains to be seen when Smith could be fully cleared.
Meanwhile, Bears quarterback Jay Cutler remained sidelined. He has yet to take the field after suffering a concussion Sunday night. There is still time for Cutler to be cleared to play on Monday. Stay tuned.
