‘Ancient’ Charles Woodson yet to find action in free agency

Charles Woodson has been in this situation before, waiting in the midst of free agency for some action.

But the last time it happened was 2006 when he was exiting the Oakland Raiders. Now 36, Woodson said he is “ancient” and he’s yet to get significant interest from a team.

Visiting with NFL AM, Woodson said he has nothing going right now as he seeks a new employer.

Nothing right now. Nothing substantial,” Woodson , according to NFL.com. “I'm just waiting around. We put feelers out there just to see where everybody's at. There's not much right now.

“I went through this before in 2006 when nobody was interested in me coming out of Oakland. I'm in the same situation now. Just have to have a little patience. I'll land somewhere and help somebody win.”

Woodson has visited the San Francisco 49ers but nothing came out of that trip, not yet anyway. He’s in a crowded market that has offered little to veteran players since the opening rush of free agency. Pretty soon, players like Woodson are going to have to come to the realization that they may be waiting beyond the draft for action.
