Andre Brown headed to IR-designated to return, Giants work out backs

New York Giants running back Andre Brown indicated via Twitter that he's headed to injured reserve-designated to return, meaning he'll miss at least the first eight games.

Brown fractured his leg during the preseason.

The Giant auditioned three running backs today, Jonathan Dwyer, Leon Washington and Beanie Wells, and could acquire one at some point to go with David Wilson, Michael Cox and Da'Rel Scott.

None of the three veteran free agent runners were immediately signed to a contract.

Dwyer wasn't expected to be cut by the Pittsburgh Steelers, but didn't make the final roster cut.
