Some Broncos fans recently bought a billboard ad in Denver that said, "Play Tim Tebow."
Now, Miami fans are taking to the skies to let the Dolphins organization know how they feel about owner Stephen Ross' decision to fire Coach Tony Sparano, but keep GM Jeff Ireland.
According to the Palm Beach Post, group of Dolphins fans have solicited donations on the fan blog Finsnation.com and raised the $1,500 necessary to have a plane fly over Sun Life Stadium on Jan. 1 when the Dolphins host the New York Jets for their home finale. The banner will read: "Mr. Ross, save our Dolphins. Fire Jeff Ireland.”
Sparano was fired on Monday, but Ireland was retained by Ross, much to the chagrin of diehard Dolphins fans/bloggers, Chris Joseph and Roger Paul.
“We just put it out there on Twitter, and the next thing you know it snowballed like crazy,” said Joseph, 36, who plans an airplane "watch party" as well. “This afternoon we put up a Paypal link, and within four hours we met our goal, just purely on donations. We’re just overwhelmed by people’s anger.”
