Are the Jets going after Trent Richardson?
Is it possible that the New York Jets have a draft day surprise in store for us?
Currently in possession of the 16th pick in the first round, Rich Cimini of ESPN New York tweeted Wednesday afternoon that the Jets called Alabama running back Trent Richardson on Sunday to verify his contact information in the event New York trades up for the star running back.

If the Jets are serious about acquiring Richardson, it’s going to take a boatload of picks to seal the deal. This year’s top prospect at the running back position, Richardson has been linked to the Cleveland Browns at No. 4, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at No. 5 and the St. Louis Rams at No. 6. New York may need to go all the way up to No. 3, where the Vikings have made it known they are willing to deal.
It’s no secret the Jets could use help at the running back position. The team ranked 22nd in the NFL in rushing last season and an improved ground game could go a long way in helping to open up opposing defenses for quarterback Mark Sanchez.
Let’s see if this report has any legs.
