If you logged into your Twitter account at some point on Sunday, you likely came across various tweets regarding West Virginia and possible major drama on the coaching staff.
When Dana Holgorsen arrived in Morgantown from Oklahoma State to become the Mountaineers' new offensive coordinator and head-coach-in-waiting, many wondered why athletic director Oliver Luck didn't just hand him the head gig for the 2011 season and let Bill Stewart walk away.
ICONWill Bill Stewart be leading the Mountaineers in the fall?
Because of the likely uncomfortable nature of Stewart's role as Dead Man Walking, we wondered how the two coaches would get along?
If the latest rumblings have any truth to them, the answer to that question is “Not very well.”
Last week's column by Chuck Landon in the Huntington Herald-Dispatch drew the ire of many West Virginia fans because of Landon's history of not exactly being fair and unbiased in his coverage of the Mountaineers.
Now, there are rumblings that much of the information contained in the Landon story was leaked by Karen Stewart, Bill’s wife.
True? Well, no one knows for sure. But the same post mentioned that there have been rumors of defensive coordinator Jeff Casteel wanting out of Morgantown, and some have speculated that Stewart may not even make it to fall camp as head coach.
Then there are the more radical rumors making their way across the 'Net, which include WVU leaving the Big East or possibly getting hit with NCAA sanctions. Of course, these are merely rumors at this point, but do you think Oliver Luck has been sleeping well at night since the Holgorsen-casino story broke?
I'll continue to monitor this story, but it could definitely be an interesting week in Morgantown for Mountaineer fans.
