Three abrupt exits from the playoffs – one in the divisional round a year ago when the Atlanta Falcons were the No. 1 seed in the NFC – has owner Arthur Blank angry.

Blank used that word to describe his emotions in a press conference on Wednesday. The Falcons, who are in search of offensive and defensive coordinators for Mike Smith’s staff, go back to work now. It’s clear the man in charge is demanding more.

Our goal is to win rings, to get championships and eventually win a Super Bowl for this community,” Blank said, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “That’s our goal.”

The Falcons have enjoyed unprecedented success. They have had four consecutive winning seasons when before Atlanta couldn’t manage back-to-back winning seasons. They’ve been to the playoffs three times under Smith and general manager Thoms Dimitroff. But they have not advanced past the divisional round of the playoffs and they were bounced 24-2 last Sunday by te New York Giants from the wild-card round.

“We know that we need to get better in many, many areas,” Dimitroff said. “It is my job to make sure that I step back with Coach Smith and obviously, Mr. Blank, and look at all aspects of the football operations and determine where we need to make changes and where we need to adjust going forward.”
