James Madison outside linebacker Arthur Moats has visited the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles, and he’s set to visit the San Francisco 49ers next week, a league source confirmed.
The first-team FCS All-American selection has also conducted private workouts for the Jacksonville Jaguars, Cincinnati Bengals and the New England Patriots.
He’s regarded as a rising draft prospect. He has been projected anywhere from the third round to the latter portion of the NFL draft.
The 6-foot, 245-pounder projects as an outside linebacker at the next level after playing a traditional defensive end position in college.
At the NFL scouting combine, Moats ran the 40-yard dash in 4.64 seconds and bench pressed 225 pounds 24 times. He also registered a 36 ½ inch vertical leap, a 10-2 broad jump and a 4.37 in the 20-yard shuttle.
Moats led JMU last season with 90 tackles, 23 ½ for losses and 11 sacks.
He received the Buck Buchanan award as the top Division I-AA defensive player in the nation.
Moats played in the Texas vs. the Nation all-star game.
