While most of the attention has turned to SEC Media Days, Auburn received good news on a player who could potentially be a big part of its future.
Sean White, a Class of 2014 quarterback who wowed onlookers with his performance at the Elite 11 quarterback competition earlier this month, gave a verbal pledge to the Tigers on Tuesday.
The 6-1, 199-pounder from University School of Nova South (Fort Lauderdale, FL) was named the MVP of the Elite 11 event despite being the only uncommitted prospect there. He picked Auburn over offers from schools such as Cincinnati, West Virginia, Syracuse, South Florida and Houston. He reportedly had been gaining interest from Notre Dame and North Carolina as well after his Elite 11 showcase.
White threw for 2,921 yards and 35 touchdowns last year at Chaminade Madonna (Hollywood, FL) before transferring to University School. The Rivals.com three-star pocket passer is very accurate with the football, so it is a real nice “get” for Tigers head coach Gus Malzahn and offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee. White becomes the 10th commitment in Auburn's 2014 class.
In two days, Auburn quarterback target Brandon Harris will announce his school, with his decision coming down to LSU, Ohio State and Auburn. The Louisiana native could be leaning toward LSU after White's verbal pledge.
