Jim Haslam has purchased controlling interest in the Cleveland Browns, and now the only hurdle that remains is NFL owners giving approval to his obtaining the team from Randy Lerner.
As part of that, former Philadelphia Eagles president Joe Banner will become part of the Browns organization, as the Cleveland Plain Dealer confirmed what had been speculated and reported as part of the deal.
Banner is likely to have a big role in the Browns hierarchy, and his big role could mean that current Browns leader Mike Holmgren will likely have a small role or no role once Banner comes aboard.
Haslam's purchase of controlling interest in the Browns on Thursday for $700 million.
