The injury sustained by Cleveland Browns first-round rookie outside linebacker Barkevious Mingo could sideline him for the season-opener against the Miami Dolphins.
Mingo is regarded as a long shot to play due to a bruised lung, according to ESPN.
Mingo is regarded as a possibility to return for the Browns' second game against the defending Super Bowl champion Baltimore Ravens.
Mingo has been sidelined since getting hurt against the Detroit Lions and being hospitalized for two days.
He's set for a CT scan Monday.
Mingo spat up blood on the sideline and dealt with shortness of breath.
He has resumed running and lifting weights and coach Rob Chudzinski indicated that injured reserve-designated to return isn't being considered for the former LSU star pass rusher.
