The Pittsburgh Steelers have announced that venerable backup Charlie Batch has re-signed with the team for what will be his 11th season in Black and Gold.

Batch started one game last year for an ailing Ben Roethlisberger, leading Pittsburgh to a 27-0 victory over the St. Louis Rams.

Batch has become the modern day Steelers version of what Vince Evans once was to the Oakland Raiders, a guy who plays sparingly, hangs around longer than some of the office furniture and at some point in the season always seems to contribute when needed.

It remains to be see as to whether or not the Steelers' other veteran backup quarterback, Byron Leftwich, will be back in Pittsburgh for 2012.
