Bears LB J.T. Thomas charged with marijuana possession

Chicago Bears linebacker J.T. Thomas was arrested early this morning and charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana.

Thomas was pulled over by police in Morgantown, W.V., after he was allegedly spotted speeding the wrong direction down a one-way street. When Thomas was asked to provide proof of registration, police discovered two small bags containing what they believed was marijuana, according to the West Virginia MetroNews Network.

Thomas, a sixth-round draft pick last April, was arrested at 3:55 a.m. and charged with misdemeanor possession of less than 15 grams of marijuana. He played in college at West Virginia. Thomas spent all of last season on injured reserve after suffering a back injury in preseason.

The Bears waived wide receiver Sam Hurd following his arrest on federal drug charges in December. Hurd was involved on a different level, though, as federal prosecutors allege he was trying to mastermind a massive distribution network.
