The status of Chicago Bears kicker Robbie Gould is up in the air this week after he suffered a left calf muscle injury in pregame warmups Sunday so the team is holding a tryout today.
It is believed Billy Cundiff and Neil Rackers will be among three or four kickers at Halas Hall. Whether or not one will be signed is not known. It could be the team just wants to have a clear idea of what is available in the event Gould’s injury does not heal this week. Gould kicked extra points in the 21-14 loss to the Minnesota Vikings but punter Adam Podlesh was called on for kickoff duty.
Gould has not missed a game in his NFL career since winning a tryout in Week 5 of the 2005 season to replace Doug Brien who had a back injury.
Gould is the fourth-most accurate kicker in NFL history at 85.6 percent and is 21-for-25 on field goals this season.
