The Chicago Bears have placed cornerback Charles “Peanut” Tillman on injured reserve-designated to return with a torn triceps, the team announced.
The soonest Tillman eligible to return to play would be in the postseason. He can begin practicing again in six weeks.
Tillman got hurt shoving Detroit Lions receiver Calvin Johnson during a 21-19 loss.
Adding to the bad injury news: starting quarterback Jay Cutler has a left high-ankle sprain and his status is week to week. That probably means he's out for Sunday's game against the Baltimore Ravens.
Josh McCown would start in his place.
McCown has played well this season when Cutler has been injured, passing for 538 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions for a 103.2 passer rating.
