The Chicago Bears have signed veteran safety Derrick Martin to a one-year contract.
The Bears lost nickel back Kelvin Hayden to a season-ending torn hamstring.
Martin has played for the Baltimore Ravens, Green Bay Packers, New York Giants and the New England Patriots. He has 37 career tackles, three interceptions, eight pass breakups, one sack and one fumble recovery.
Martin is a former Ravens sixth-round draft pick who earned Super Bowl rings with the Patriots and Giants.
The Patriots cut safety Cyhl Quarles to create a spot for Martin.
