The Chicago Bears have signed fullback Eddie Williams to a one-year contract.
Williams, a seventh-round draft pick last year by Washington, was released last week by the Redskins. He suffered a broken left leg in practice in early November, so he had to pass a physical before the team would let him go.
Williams is an interesting addition for new offensive coordinator Mike Martz because he was a skilled pass-catching tight end at Idaho. Williams caught 54 passes for 687 yards and six touchdowns as a senior when he also suffered a torn ACL in his right knee.
He’ll join the mix with veteran starter Jason McKie. The Bears begin their voluntary offseason workout program on March 29.

I wouldn't make any assumptions. Martz is doing due diligence and bringing in players to compete. What's wrong with that. He has no favorites and I like that. Believe me, If Greg Olsen shows him something he likes, he'll use him. But nothing is guaanteed to anyoen except no. 6, the reason Martz hired on.
Remember: no one has ever build a system around a TE>
I really like Olsen but he is the only player of value they have to try and get some extra draft picks. This draft is to deep to go through it with only 5 picks, especially with all the need shte Bears have. The problem is it is very deep at TE as well, so if they cannot get a 2nd or a combo of a 3rd and 4th or 5th, then they should keep Olsen
Thomas and Kelly and move Moss to the slot to be similar to Welker where he would b e great! But I like the moves, now we have to pray we don't draft Bradford or ESPECIALLY Clausen!! Let's get Okung and build the line!

Hmm...Olsen must be gone now. Martz uses H-backs not FB's. This was an H-back acquisition i.e. TE. I think the Bears will deal Olsen & one of their picks for a higher pick like a 2 & a 4/5 on draft day. So Biggsy still think Olsen's staying?
