The Chicago Bears landed former Minnesota Vikings defensive end Jared Allen, signing him to a four-year deal worth $32 million and includes $15.5 million guaranteed.
The deal voids down to $24 million total.
Allen chose the Bears over the Seattle Seahawks, whom he visited twice during free agency. Now, he'll remain in the NFC North division.
"We're really excited about adding Jared to our football team. We know what his abilities bring to the table," Bears coach Marc Trestman said.
After spending his first four NFL seasons with Kansas City, Allen was traded to the Vikings for a first-round pick.
His career flourished in Minnesota, with Allen earning four of his five Pro Bowl honors with the Vikings.
Allen has recorded 554 career tackles, 128.5 sacks, 29 forced fumbles and 17 fumble recoveries.
“We are extremely happy for Jared, his wife Amy, our fans and the Chicago Bears that Jared has agreed to terms,” Bears general manager Phil Emery said.
