Autopsy reveals blood alcohol level of .17 at time of his death. Terry McCormick
Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher was legally drunk with a blood alcohol level of .17, more than twice the legal limit, when he killed his girlfriend and committed suicide after driving to the team facility.
The Kansas City Star cited the results of the autopsy from the Dec. 1 incident.
The blood-alcohol level at the time of Belcher's death was about five hours after police found him sleeping in his car and sent him home.
The autopsy of Belcher's girlfriend, Kasandra Perkins, showed that she had been shot nine times by Belcher. Her body had virtually no trace of alcohol or drugs at the time of her death.
