The Cincinnati Bengals made it official, announcing the previously-reported signing of defensive tackle Tank Johnson.
He started 13 games last season as the Bengals won the AFC North championship.
He registered 39 tackles with two sacks.
“Signing Tank now is a positive step for both him and the defensive team,” Bengals coach Marvin Lewis. “He was a very consistent performer last season and was a big part of our improved run defense. He is a tough-minded man who is a great pro during the week and brings a great competitive attitude to the field on Sunday.”
Johnson missed two games and parts of two others with a foot injury last season, but returned to start the last 11 games and also started Cincinnati’s wild card playoff loss against the New York Jets. He tied for the team lead in tackles with 10 in the playoff game.
Johnson played his first three NFL seasons with Chicago, and he spent two years in Dallas before joining the Bengals.
