The Cincinnati Bengals have acquired offensive tackle Marshall Newhouse, the team announced.

Newhouse was a 29-game starter for the Green Bay Packers between 2011 and 2012.

Last season, he wasn't a starter despite Bryan Bulaga being out for the season with a knee injury.

“Marshall has played a lot of football for Green Bay; he’ll be a quality addition to our line,” Bengals offensive line coach Paul Alexander said. “He’s played left tackle and right tackle and has experience in big games.”

Newhouse was the left tackle at Texas Christian when Andy Dalton was the Horned Frogs' quarterback.

The Bengals cut quarterback Greg McElroy after he announced his plans to retire today.

The Bengals needed reinforcements along the line after losing Anthony Collins to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Bengals also cut center Kyle Cook.

They've also brought in guards Uche Nwaneri and Vladimir Ducasse for vists.

Newhouse is a former Packers fifth-round draft pick.
