The Cincinnati Bengals have signed unrestricted free agent Alex Smith to a contract on Tuesday, the club announced.
Smith, a nine-year veteran, had been with the Bengals' AFC North rival Cleveland Browns for the past three seasons.
He had 13 receptions for 47 yards in 12 games last year. Three of those catches came in one game against the Bengals in September.
