The Cincinnati Bengals have announced the signing of kicker Josh Brown due to the calf injury that has plagued regular kicker Mike Nugent.
Brown has scored 962 career points over five seasons with Seattle and four with St. Louis. He has made 220 field goals in 272 attempts (80.9 percent), and he also has 60 points in eight career postseason games, with a 14-for-17 reading on field goals. He played in all 152 possible games of his career from 2003-11, including postseason.
In order to make room for Brown, the Bengals waived center Jeff Faine, who had made seven starts for Cincinnati this season.
