“Monday Night Football” has come a long way from Hank Williams Jr.
You’ve got to cover a lot of ground to transition from the country western crooner to … 89-year-old Betty White. But the 89-year-old actress will be featured in the opening to “MNF” on Monday when the Atlanta Falcons and New Orleans Saints tangle.
According to the New Orleans Times-Picayune, White has filmed a holiday-themed opener for the game. ESPN showed a photo of White sitting in a chair in front of a Christmas tree. This will be the final “MNF” broadcast of the season.
Williams was launched earlier in the season after some controversial remarks he made about President Barack Obama. ESPN dumped his “Are You Ready For Some Football?” opening and gone with different acts since.
