MOBILE, Ala.—The Chicago Bears have moved on to Plan E, at least, in their search for an offensive coordinator. Hue Jackson flew to town on Monday and will interview with coach Lovie Smith and general manager Jerry Angelo today.

He’s at least the fifth person that has been considered for the job, and right now he’s the only one of the known bunch in play. The Bears were unable to meet with Jeremy Bates before he went from USC to Seattle. Green Bay rebuffed their efforts to speak with Packers quarterbacks coach Tom Clements, who remains under contract. Cincinnati quarterbacks coach Ken Zampese interviewed for the job but is out of the mix as the window for him to leave has closed. Rob Chudzinski, the assistant head coach/tight ends coach in San Diego, interviewed for the job and is no longer in the mix.

The Bears have maintained they’re going to involve a lot of people in the search process and it’s clear, at least to this point, that they have not found the right fit. The limited number of coaching changes this offseason has reduced the size of the usual pool of coaches to choose from, and the longer it goes, maybe the better chances are for Mike Martz. But the next step for Smith and Angelo might be dipping into the college ranks.

The perception is that no one wants to come work for Smith, who is in a win-or-else situation, but rumblings at the Senior Bowl are that some candidates could be turned off by quarterback Jay Cutler and don’t want to hitch their wagon to him. Still, few quarterbacks possess the skills of Cutler. Today marks Day 21 of the coaching search.

People, this is about Lovie not being there. Jeremy Bates turned down the job because he worried about the long term security.

I think the Bears have already decided to hire Martz but they want to convince the public that they searched high and low to find someone better. They will eventually have a press conference and say something like this...after an exhaustive search of many highly qualified candidates it became clear to all of us that Mike Martz was the right guy for the job.

Now, who is the DC going to be...

The zombie is a bad coach.
"How bad is he?"

He is soooooo bad that this lifelong Bears fan who has been a Bears fan since the 1940s is tempted to cheer for the gb pukers.
Now, THAT is baaad.

As bad as the zombie and the general MISmanager are, I'm to moral and ethical to actually cheer for the "eeeeeeeeeewwwwwww", pukers.

Watch the zombie on the sidelines as it plays "Walking dead" and you also will wonder why it just doesn't lie down and rot.

first off, anyone who thinks this has anything to do with cutler is way out of touch with reality. no one is going to want to work for a man (lovie smith) thats on death row, its not job security, its suicide to except a job from a man no one knows (actually we bearsfans do know) if he is going to be here beyond next season. i for one am looking forward to the bears having another dismal season, thats how bad i want lovie and angelo out of here.

i don't have a problem with the ad, Yawn! but I do have a problem with a QB that will not make it as a QB in the pros for lack of skills so say the( NFL scouts) get any more publicity than he has already received . This kid has been over hyped from the word go.
