Rookie cornerback E.J. Biggers was placed on injured reserve this afternoon by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but the bigger health news was that the team left wide receiver Antonio Bryant behind for its trip to Buffalo.
Bryant started last week’s game with Dallas but could not finish as the knee he had surgery on at the start of training camp flared up. Tampa had a strong offensive effort with recently promoted offensive coordinator Greg Olson in its loss to the Cowboys, but the Bucs will be shorthanded with just Michael Clayton and a cast of inexperienced receivers, including rookie Sammie Stroughter.
Biggers, the first of two seventh-round picks for the Bucs, has a shoulder injury. Taking his place on the roster is safety Steve Cargile, who spent time with the Bucs in preseason. Cargile has made stops in Dallas, Denver, Cleveland and with the New York Giants.
