Victim must agree to intervention program which could reduce sentence Brad Biggs
The cab driver that was allegedly assaulted by Aqib Talib has refused to grant prosecutors permission to offer the Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback a pretrial intervention program for first-time offenders that could lessen his sentence.
The Tampa Tribune reported that Talib’s trial was continued Monday until Dec 14. Talib has been charged with misdemeanor battery for an Aug. 19 incident in which David Duggan said Talib hit him while he was driving 70 mph on the interstate taking Talib and two other Buccaneers players from a St. Petersburg night club to a hotel.
The pretrial program requires victims to agree to defendants being allowed in the system and Duggan has refused, saying that Talib didn’t even apologize to him.
“Why should I give him anything?” Duggan said, according to the report.
The Buccaneers and NFL are waiting to see what happens next with the case.

I have to agree. He's a juvenile and needs to grow up. He may have to do some jail time and if so, he deserves it. As far as I know, the 2 witnesses haven’t said diddly to back him in any way.
Assuming the cabbie's telling the truth I'd support that decision wholeheartedly. It's good to see he's not intimidated by Talib's fame, success, whatever. Do we suppose it's a coincidence that Talib has been playing lights out the last few weeks? Maybe he's motivated to make a good impression now that he's caused the team a black eye.

Good for him. I hope the cabbie doesn't relent. These thugs should pay for their behavior. Just because they're football players doesn't give them a free ride. A lot of them would be in prison if they weren't playing in the NFL.
