Move would create opening for Mike Brown in lineup Brad Biggs
The Kansas City Chiefs are exploring options to trade strong safety Bernard Pollard, a move that would create an opening for veteran Mike Brown to move into the starting lineup, sources said.
The 24-year-old Pollard, a fourth-year pro from Purdue, has made 31 starts the last two seasons. He had 98 tackles and one interception last season. But Brown was signed in late June to push both Pollard and free safety Jarrad Page.
“The defensive backfield as a whole, I think, there’s excellent competition,’’ Haley said late last month when asked if Brown had pushed Pollard for the job. “I don’t think there’s anybody who feels real comfortable. Mike’s one of the reasons for that but I think that’s the way it is across the board there. Those guys know there is somebody right behind them that could be playing just as well as them. That’s how you get your team good.”
Brown spent the last nine seasons with the Chicago Bears but has been injury plagued since 2004. He held it together to start 15 games last season, but had to leave three games early down the stretch with a recurring calf muscle pull and finally missed the finale. He is an instinctive player and made 101 tackles last season, the third-highest total in his career.

I CALL BS ON THIS ONE!
funny stuff
This is absolutely absurd! You people must be drumming up rumors and other crap!!! Who was your source? How do you know? This makes absolutely no sense whatsoever!!! Think about it... two solid young safeties the coaches love and keeping an injury-prone old-timer instead? Are you kidding me? Get your facts straight, quote your sources, and then tell us if it's for real. Knock off all this "report" stuff and "rumor" stuff!
More guessing from this outfit with no evidence? This is tabloid not reporting.
thats too bad, he was actually cut in the final roster cuts.
NFL.com is my source
Jury is in and Bradd Briggs actually had some insight on this one...LOL!
Still, I wish the chiefs had shopped Pollard a little harder instead of cutting him. They didn't think they could get a pick for a 24 year starting safety??? This looks like a gut decision without thinking through the business ramifications. I mean I understand changing the culture with the whole 'nobody gets a free ride' mentallity but use trade bait when you got it. You KNOW Pollard is getting picked up fast. I don't think Pioli is still so ticked off at Pollard for the Brady hit that he would shoot himself in the foot but this move makes no sense!
Hate to say it, but Pioli looked really smart when he got Vrabel and Cassell dirt cheap but since then, not so much.
Looks like this report was right huh? Since Pollard was released yesterday. Nice work Brad

As a Bears fan for thge last 70 years, I've seen them come and go. One of the best and brightest is Mike Brown and not just on the field. You're really lucky to have him in the wilds of KC. If he can stay unhurt, he's a winner
