The New York Jets seemingly tried to get every wide receiver that was or wasn’t available.

They were rumored at various points to be trying to trade for Anquan Boldin and Brandon Marshall, they had admitted interest in Plaxico Burress and one league source said they even attempted to go Ricky Williams with their draft and send their remaining draft picks, or darn close to it, to draft wide receiver Percy Harvin after he fell below No. 20 in the first round. Imagine that, a bounty of Mark Sanchez and Harvin together.

It never came to be, but now they have Braylon Edwards after engineering a deal for him this week, and it looks like they are going to need him Monday night against the Miami Dolphins. Jerricho Cotchery missed his second consecutive day of practice with a hamstring injury. He is questionable for the game.

If Cotchery, the team’s leading receiver, cannot play it could mean that Edwards and Brad Smith start. Hopefully Edwards has picked up the playbook in a hurry.

Stay tuned.

Seattle will be able to put an end to musical chairs on the offensive line on the weekend when Sean Locklear returns from a high ankle sprain or veteran Walter Jones is placed on injured reserve, or both.
