Da Coach likes Da Pack this season.
Yes, that’s right, Mike Ditka, the man who embodies what Chicago is all about and does business in the city like no one else, is picking the Green Bay Packers to win the NFC North this season.
APMike Ditka says that without the same supporting cast he had in Denver that Jay Cutler will need to be a leader in Chicago.
Don’t believe your eyes? Click for yourself. Ditka tells Mike Vandermause of the Green Bay Press-Gazette that he believes the rival to the north will claim the division in 2009.
“I’m not politically correct,” Ditka said. “I don’t try to be. I speak my piece.”
This much is for certain, it should be a more competitive division than it has been in some time. The NFC North has produced two playoff teams in the same season just once in the last seven years. With Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay, Jay Cutler in Chicago and Brett Favre in Minnesota, there will finally be some more improved and more balanced play at the most important position on the field. Detroit might even join the list of teams with a quality quarterback if No. 1 overall pick Matthew Stafford pans out.
Ditka questioned Cutler’s leadership abilities early in the summer after former Indianapolis Colts coach Tony Dungy had done the same thing.
“I think it's a fact. (Cutler) came here under uncertain circumstances,’’ Ditka told Sam Farmer of the Los Angeles Times. “The way he got out of Denver was kind of strange. But the kid is a talent.
“People ask me one question: Is he a good quarterback? Well, he's got a great arm. He had great receivers up in Denver, they had an offense that threw the football a lot, so it highlighted his strengths. If he's in an offense that doesn't highlight his strengths, what's his strength going to be? It's got to be leadership, like Tony said. And he's got to prove that.
“If they win with Jay Cutler and go to the Super Bowl, he will own this city. He can have my key.’’
The Bears might have to win the division to go to the Super Bowl.

I'd rather they flew under the radar for a while... at least until they destroy the Bears Sunday night.
I love the Pack as well. They have done a nice job on defense during the preseason. They were able to work in a respectable 3-4 system with Raji's lengthy holdout. They have to work Barnett back in after his season-ending injury in '08, but I think this is a team that is lurking behind the scenes.
Well, I don't think you guys should hold your breath. I think the packers are quite tallented and so are the Vikings. But I think anyone should reconsider if they think the Bears are going to roll over and let the Packers take it all. Too early to guess right now, but come December, when packers are in Chicago, let's visit his again.
Keep your key handy Coach! It may be a bumpy ride, but expect a trip to Dolphin Stadium this year for the last game of the season. ;-)
Ditka, while a great player, was the most over rated coach in the history of football.
Rotten game day coach, terrible talent evaluator, worse offensive coach...but not a bad special teams guy.

You tell 'em coach! With all the Cutler drama in Chicago and the new diva in town getting all the attention of late in Minnesota, the Packers have quietly put together a juggernaut of an offense. If Dom Capers can at least make the defense respectable after an awful 2008, this team should be the favorite in the NFC North.
Full disclosure in case you haven't figured it out by now, but I'm a Packer fan. Can't wait for Sunday night!!!
