Biggs: Green Bay opponents face no red lights

Opponents will be able to zip straight to Lambeau Field now from the nearby town of Appleton, or wherever they might be staying.

Wisconsin Gov. Jim Doyle signed into law a bill that permits police escorts to lead team buses through red lights now. That means no more stopping on the way to the ballgame for visiting teams there to play the Packers.

According to a report in the Green Bay Press-Gazette, the Radisson Paper Valley Hotel in nearby Appleton, which hosts many visiting teams because of a shortage of suitable hotels in Green Bay, lobbied for the bill to ensure teams will continue to stay there knowing they can get an uninterrupted ride to the stadium. Appleton is 30 miles from Green Bay.

So does that mean pedal to the metal for the bus drivers the Minnesota Vikings will use on the morning of Nov. 1? Surely there aren’t any law enforcement officials interested in ticketing the Purple party. A cynic might wonder if the Radisson in Appleton has plans to host lawmakers in the future as well.

Green Bay's opponents face no red lights on their way to the endzone, either. Dom Capers has become the second coming of Bob Sanders. Packers really, really need to draft one of those two stud safeties next year.

Damm! thought this would be about how DE's find no one stopping them from sacking Rodgers 20 times already

Maybe they need a red light on the field

Doing these kind of things, to make the football logistics attainable, that is something small market teams must do in a variety of ways. It helps cement their support and standing within the league.

I thought the article was going to be about the Green Bay "offensive" line. No red lights or blocking of the opponents from getting to Rodgers either.

Oh all you cynical Packer fans. . . . but wait, those were my thoughts exactly! Thought Biggs was just being a little cute with the headline.

Ogunleye spun him to the Soldier Field turf on Sunday, and had a firm grasp on the back of his jersey as he did so. If the NFL deems that Ogunleye had the collar of the jersey, it could be a horse collar violation.
