NFL docks Vikings' lineman $5,000 for unnecessary roughness Brad Biggs
It’s likely of little consequence to the Rams’ Gary Gibson that Vikings’ right tackle Artis Hicks has been fined by the NFL for the hit that ended his season.
Gibson suffered a broken ankle when he fell awkwardly to the Edward Jones Dome turf last Sunday, the result of an illegal hit by Hicks. The league fined Hicks $5,000 for unnecessary roughness, according to Sean Jensen of the St. Paul Pioneer Press. Gibson, a starter, has been placed on injured reserve.
“I don't go out there thinking I'm going to hurt anyone,” Hicks said. “But, people get hurt. It's a part of this game.”
Hicks hit Gibson when the defender had turned to run downfield after Brett Favre had released a deep pass. Hicks indicated he plans to appeal.

He's a beastly guy though, and hopefully the Bears saw something in him that Tampa hasn't been able to get the most out of it. Not thrilled to lose the pick though.
