Veteran set to replace Barbre on right side Brad Biggs
Midway through the season, while quarterback Aaron Rodgers is still alive, the Green Bay Packers might get their offensive tackles right.

There’s nothing they could have done to prevent the ankle injury that has hobbled left tackle Chad Clifton since Week 2, but the Packers gambled on Allen Barbre from the start of the season at right tackle and lost. The old gang is getting back together, according to Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, as Mark Tauscher is expected to reclaim his old spot at right tackle this Sunday at Tampa Bay.
Clifton and Tauscher worked with the first team in practice on Wednesday, and while coach Mike McCarthy would not confirm the change, that looks like the direction the Packers are headed a month after the team re-signed Tauscher.
“Offensive line, (I'm) just going to take the week and work through it,” McCarthy said. “Mark Tauscher had a lot of work today with the 1’s, so (we're) looking at Mark at the right tackle position. He took the majority of the reps, and Chad Clifton looked healthy today.
“So, really (we'll) see how Chad responds tomorrow from today's practice. Hopefully, they'll both go through the padded practice tomorrow, and we'll see where they are.’’
Rodgers has been sacked a league-high 31 times and while the Packers (4-3) will not have to worry about nemesis Jared Allen again in the regular season, they need to shore up their pass protection. It looks like they’re headed in that direction, or at least attempting to as the first sign a fix is on the way is the admission that there was a problem.

THOM: I couldn't agree more with your blog. The organization bought a bill of goods they were selling, consequently, the offensive line is horrid, not just bad. Responsibility for this disaster falls on TT, MM and Campen. The more I see of McCarthy's teams, the less impressed I am. Penalties, blown assignments, poor execution and slo starts are his signature. It's more than X's and O's, I have lost faith that he's a Packer headcoach.
As for TT, still some small hope. He can't keep this team young and stupid forever. Hopefully he will rid himself of his prejudice against helping with competent FA's.

Lombardi writes all the time about teams effectively evaluating their own talent. This has become the Packer organization's greatest weakness, and it just so happens that the major area of concern is the OL. People like to point out that Pittsburgh won last year with a shabby OL, but they also have 245-lb. Mr. Indestructible at QB. I like the way Aaron Rodgers throws the ball when he actually decides to get rid of it on time, but he's no Roethlisberger. Also, the '08 Steelers and '09 Packers lines are apples and oranges. Pittsburgh's was below average, GB's is off-the-charts horrible. The Packers have failed to evaluate their young OL talent, and it's cost them the NFC North.
